Fair Visitation Day: May 14, 2009

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) presents a unique experience for school children and others who wish to visit the fair to both learn from and be inspired by the discovery and innovation on display.

Thursday, May 14, is the day set aside for the public to visit the fair. The Reno-Sparks Convention Center will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

We are no longer accepting applications for reserved tours on the fair visitation day. The demand and enthusiasm were incredible, and we have filled all available slots for programs requiring an advanced reservation. Special thanks to International Game Technology and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation whose generous support allowed Gathering Genius to offer these fair visitation programs.

Science Fair Coaches and Faculty Mentors

Hosting Intel ISEF 2009 provides a tremendous opportunity to increase student excellence, competitiveness and participation in science, technology, engineering and math across the State of Nevada. Educational outreach prior to, during and after the fair is intended to increase student participation in scientific research, improve our teachers' mentoring skills, expand Nevada’s participation in science fairs and create a legacy for science fairs in Nevada.

G2 supports science fair coaches

One-on-one coaching and encouragement can set a young science enthusiast on the road to success in science fair competitions… and in life. Through the generous support of many, including the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Gathering Genius (G2) is able to provide resources and financial assistance to high school Science Fair Coaches who work one-on-one to prepare science fair participants.

G2 Intel ISEF Faculty Mentors

G2/Intel ISEF is seeking faculty mentors from the Nevada System of Higher Education institutions to help high school science teachers guide Nevada’s brightest high school students to submit high quality, competitive research projects in one of 17 scientific/engineering fields to Intel ISEF 2009. Mentors will work with classroom teachers and their students to guide students to appropriate literature and research questions, and assist in appropriate data collection and analyses.
